Silver basically taught both our daughters how to ride. He was used in 4-H by both of them, but our youngest showed him the most. The county could always count on Silver to put on a great show in the trail class out our fair show. He is a registered POA, and he was bred by us. He did have limited showing at POA shows and does have some points. We bred him one time when he was younger, but sold the mare prior to her foaling. He was then gelded and used by our daughters. We did everything with Silver in the years that we used him. He is currently 23 yrs old and retired. He went blind in his near eye about 10-12 yrs ago and was still used in 4-H and went to the Ohio State Fair and placed very well in showmanship and was in the Championship classes, even without being able to see the handler. He was in a 4th of July parade one time, and at that point we realized he did not like marching bands as he took off across the school yard with a 4 or 5 yr old girl on a bareback pad (dressed as a circus rider) and dragging our youngest daughter (dressed as a clown) who would not let go of the leadrope. As you can see from the picture we did not give up in dressing him up. He was used in competitive trail riding, and any class we could put him in at the open and 4-H shows. His favorite class was the Apple Under Chin at our county fun show as we used him as part of the clean-up crew.
